Golfing Nova Scotia — Day 9

Our stay in Inverness took place at McLeod’s Beach and RV Campground, off NS-219 in Dunvegan, just outside Inverness. At first glance this appears to be just another RV park, with rows and rows of RVs parked along a hillside. But the real treasure here is the beach, as nice as any I’ve seen in Maine or Nova Scotia. How one guy can own a beach like this is beyond me, but that’s the case here.

Mr. MacLeod, the owner, is an affable sort of person with a very affectionate black-and-tan hound as his constant companion. The park is largely devoid of people this late in the season, but looks full owing to the large number of seasonal tenants they have, people who park an RV here year-round and use it as a vacation destination in the summer. There are a couple of tent sites right on the water which are especially nice. Here is a view of the path to the beach:

So, as busy and occupied as the campground looks, it has turned out to be a very quiet and nice spot to stay. We spent the day doing laundry, updating this blog, and generally just relaxing after several days of hiking and golf. Tomorrow, we leave Cape Breton Island for Tatamagouche, on the south shore of Nova Scotia’s Minas Basin. Here’s hoping for better internet there, and safe and uneventful travels along the way!
