This is just a short post to report my safe arrival at tonight’s destination, Arrowhead RV and Marina in Glenville, NY (see previous blog post). I arrived early in the afternoon and had the distinct pleasure of visiting Robin’s sister Vicki and her husband Mark in nearby Schenectady, catching up with them and enjoying a delicious supper featuring Mark’s homemade steak stew. It was lovely as always to see them, but it also brought back memories of the many times Robin and I stayed with them on our way to and from Ohio over the years — and reminiscing about Robin is still very difficult, despite the almost three years since her passing.
Arrowhead is a somewhat different place this time around due to the abundance of water in the Mohawk River (Erie Canal). The last time I was here, a year ago, the pandemic was in full swing and the locks were abandoned in the midst of being repaired, so the river was too low for boating; today it seems like all is back to normal and the marina is fully operational. Here’s a picture:
I was fortunate to snag both a drive-through campsite (always preferable to trying to back the trailer up into a space) and the site that borders the river. Here’s the view out the camper door:
The goal is to make it back home tomorrow so I can start planning a canoe trip down the Allagash. But there will be more travel posts before the summer is over! Thanks for following!
